Your Vehicle’s Timeline

Every car has a story, it’s history, it’s provenance. So use CARPORT to put together the history of your car and then let us put it into a format that makes it easy for you to see, share, and if the day comes to sell the car, explain the history to the next owner.

The process of building your vehicle’s timeline is as easy as 1/ 2/ 3/

1/ Enter Your Ownership Date

To activate your timeline the first step is to enter the month and year in which you purchased the vehicle. If you aren’t sure of the month, feel free to estimate it, you can always edit it later.

Find this section on your Vehicle Details page, by tapping the vehicle image or title from the main vehicles listing page.

FYI, CARPORT uses this date to also segment your expense receipts to know which of your uploaded receipts were under your ownership versus prior owners.

2/ Add events

You can add events of any type you wish and in any chronological order you want. We do the rest.

Use the + to add an event:

Then add event details:

Change of Ownership” events are moments when your vehicle changed owners.

Other” events can be anything else that you think is important about the vehicle’s history, for example:

  • Major restorations or repairs, either as one event or as a sequence of events in the process

  • Shows or events the vehicle participated in

  • Past vehicle photos or other interesting moments that you find interesting

3/ Watch Your Provenance Chart Update

As you add events to your timeline we will update your Provenance chart accordingly. Past owners and other events are 2 parts of the chart. Your service record and mileage line are generated as you upload receipts in your Expenses Tab.

You can always tap and hold the Provenance Chart to save to your device, or you can download your vehicle report for a PDF to be emailed to you that contains all of your information including the Provenance Chart.

And that’s it… it’s that easy to build your vehicles history, and even easier to show it to others should you wish to.
